For column metadata use the following commands to connect to HBase shell: ./hbase shell –d
-d is for debug option:
We will discuss joins in MapReduce section.
How it works…
When we do a get, the recent timestamp of each cell is returned which in most the case it the most resent version of the data. But in some case you may not require this. You can use Get.setMaxVerions() to return more than one version, alternatively you can also use Get.setTimeRange() if you want other than latest versions.
When you run a put statement, the system always creates a new version of a cell in which the data resides logically and associates a default timestamp. This sits with the core architecture of true MVCC and also allows you to programmatically change the timestamp if you need it.
On each put, a new value is written for an existing cell, which in turn creates a new key-value payer by appending it to the store.
